51,"encourage people to use local shops rather than out of town supermarkets.
encourage people to get involved with the local school!
do you need to make that local Car Journey??"

52,"Second homes should pay double council tax. How many declare their home is rented out during the year for 3-£400 a week? Half of the doubled council tax would go to build affordable houses for local people."

53,"Get rid of the Liberals on North Norfolk District Council-for what ever the people of Wells vote in favour of, they are sure to do the opposite."

54,"The parking is certainly a major problem in Wells and there is a need for a new car park.
Residents parking permits are a good idea-particularly around the Buttlands with pay and display for visitors.
A one way system would also help."

57,"The parking situation in Wells needs urgent attention. Not only to clear the roads, but the potential revenue from a car park in Wells, would financially support many improvement projects."

58,"Double council tax for second homes."

59,"More public toilet facilities
More activities for local youth, families and visitors.
Shops or cafes- not more expensive flats"

60,"Cars should not be allowed to park on yellow lines any time. There are not many pavements.
On Theatre Road cars take up half the road-parking right up to the corner of Chubbs Lane.
The toilets should never be closed on Newgates Lane, all the buses stop there-these are the only toilets between Hunstantos ond Sheringham. "

61,"Make the top of Beach Road turn left only, or have it policed at peek times in the Summer.
Have speed ramps fitted on Northfield Lane."

62,"I feel housing particularly for 1st time buyers is vital.
Some way of promoting jobs.
No more holiday homes, I feel they bring little long term benefit to Wells."

65,"Improve the quayside to encourage visitors and sailing.
Under no circumstances allow the fisherman to use it for processing fish etc. or clogging it up with their pots etc.
Use the land at side of football pitch for parking-with proceeds going towards hospital.
Use Health Centre parking-out of surgery hours for short term parking-say half an hour for 50p-1£ with proceeds toward hospital. Modify parking outside TEL exchange to accomodate more cars.   "

67,"Not to build a fisherman's building on Quay-blocking view from Standard Road.
This is the first great view all see, visitors and residents alike. Why not use sheds at end of East quay."

68,"Tidy up the Quayside Buildings as the quay and harbour are our town's biggest asset."

71,"Wells needs more affordable homes for our own families and less intrusion of outsiders having the opportunity to come in and buy themselves second homes.
There doesn't seem to be any thought for our younger children, my youngest is 15 and if she wants to shop or get some entertainment with her friends, it's a tedious bus journey. There are no facilities for her age group in Wells. I have two grown up children who have had to move away, both for work and houses.
Wells is too full of people with plums in their mouths and money to burn.  "

72,"Apart from the Quay Staithe Street this town is disgusting-weeds growing from walls, path edges.
Visitors do see this, the whole town and paths should be swept, why do people pay council tax? Where does it go? I doubt very much if anything will be done. "

74,"While I think there should be more housing for the younger couples of Wells who are born and bred here, why can they not have first refusal on local housing and not offer them to people from outside Wells first-who all seem to have problems or make trouble.
Lets help to keep Wells people in Wells.
To build more houses that then go to people from anywhere is not the answer. "

75,"A cinema would be great.
Grays Building on Quay lets Wells down-it must be rebuilt/restored."

76,"Why have NNDC said what they have in Question 9?
They should be asked why-and should be made to justify their reasoning.
Wells has always(why?)come off badly in funding from NNDC."

77,"-More police about dealing with the unruly element in the young people. The area I live in has been very spoiled by anti social behaviour and criminal damage done to property(including my own). This is very frightening for people living alone and elderly.
-Cleaner streets-the litter thrown around is not attractive.
-The tyding up of the empty and burned down buildings.
-Dog owners made to clear up after their animals. "

78,"A nice place to live.
Parking a problem-must be improved
Need for traffic warden
Residents Parking Scheme"

80,"Clean up the burnt ot shell on the quay-an eyesore on our lovely quay.
Many clubs etc. for the youth of Wells have folded over the last few years so i'm not sure what would grab their interest.
If bus srevices are to work, they need to connect with train times too.
Youngsters need a bus to Norwich on a Saturday. Buses running via the hospital (Wells) would be useful-just adjust existing routes and publisise.
Quay magazine for information is excellent!
Police visible at more appropriate times."

82,"jobs for local people"

83,"annualy life in Wells is rapidly being destroyed by poor traffic management(as is the case in Burnham Market etc.)
A good solution to traffic management, including car parking, is believed to be the most urgent matter facing Wells."

84,"Increase holiday home council tax, to discourage 'holiday Lets'/2nd Homes, and open it back up for locals to rent/buy.
Stop building on childrens' open/play areas (eg. Park Rd,Warham) children/young people make their own activities/games there-no cost! "

85,"Dedicated advertising board for residents/visitors to show forthcoming events - monthly-weekly?"

86,"A Hotel-tourism is the lifeblood of Wells.
Local trade events such as farmers markets.
Residents parking - but with sufficient/sensible parking for tourists-park and ride?
No fast food but decent pizza/Italian-great for tourists, especially with children.
Weekend film showings. "

87,"Upgraded theatre and small cinema would enhance cultural attraction of Wells.
Make sure no supermarket chains arrive(eg. Tesco)"

88,"-Improve services for young people(11-18)
-Provide a fishermans centre on the quay(The Grays) with social facilities, market, catch handling, specialist restaurant(i.e. Cookies), visitor centre etc.
-Upgrade the Maltings as proposed.
-Improve the harbour, remove car park, provide padestrian zone with essential access only for vehicles.
-Provide suitable visitor parking away from town centre.  "

89,"I think this is a very good start!
I feel that some businesses decided to reduce opening hours dramatically during Winter-if these people could be encouraged to open longer hours, more people would come to Wells in winter."

90,"Second homes may bring some employment opportunities and a small amount of spending within the community, how ever this is out weighed by the significant number of unoccupied houses, especially during winter months which gives an imbalance to the community and the uptake of services on offer. Some method of deterring empty properties would be beneficial to the community as a whole.
The solution? I don't know!"

91,"My house is not in wells! We shop in Stiffkey, Wells (occasionally)"

92,"More things to do for the 10-19 ages and more for the 20+.
Baning parking on the quay at all times for all!
Having the quay clean more ie. having it washed-road ect.
Having the bin put at the back of the wall, not on the footpath."

93,"Sort out quay and frontage-resolve problem of fire damage and ban cars from quay-there will be an accident with no action taken to slow cars down.
Wells is best placed to serve as centre for North Norfolk Coast, but needs publicity, research and a approach."

94,"Pedestrianising the entire quay not just the car park, would be a better idea.
There is no need to build further housing, as there are dozens of houses standing empty for most of the year. Purchase them and let them out as low cost housing. There are already too many houses to cope with water pressure and poor drainage.  "

95,"Make the High Street one way only!"

98,"I feel Staithe Street would be better with out cars-just deliveries only(or driving to May and Wells car park for residents).
As a comparitive newcomer, the local people should be the ones who make any changes.
Another car park would be useful in the summer months."

99,"Avoid more shops opening just to allow art/craft stuff.
Wells needs regular shops for the local people-a big pat on the back to the butter maker!
Fishmonger, green grocer, deli - at the moment well ha! A vibrant highstreet-keep it! "
