100,"Support for small businesses providing essential needs.
I am selling childrens clothes and accessories for local children and need to find alternative premises by the end of January 08.
Perhaps change units at Maryland into shop units - crafts, arts etc
Also car parking at Maryland.
Alot of the day Trippers park along these side roads"

101,"Control by local people of budget for local spending on prospects.
Focus on marketing Wells natural amenities to attract eco-tourism.
Promote Norfolk centre for crafts and maritime pursuits with sponsored events to attract wider participation /attendance."
102,"More car parking for summer visitors."

103,"More car parking for summer visitors."

104,"Wells has a very large social housing stock/even after right to buy. These dwellings should be for local people. There should be more than enough if they were not allocated to people from all over the place. This causes social problems and puts the crime rate up. There should not be any need to build huge amounts more, thus spoiling the character of the town and surrounding countryside.
With reference to the possible re-siting of the car park, it would be much too far for elderly people to walk and should be left where it is. "

105,"-Petrol Station not ecofriendly to travel extra miles for petrol-not catering for the tourists being without this facility.
-Tidy up the eye sore building facing the key-next to the quality stores-pressure on owners to at least improve this cosmetically pending long form plans.
-Keep the revenue from cottage lettings away from aditional chains within Wells, by having a town'holiday' agency website. "

106,"A petrol station would be a great help.
Also shelters at the bus stops."

107,"As outsiders we find Wells has a lot to offer. Very good shops, pubs and restaurants. Parking will always be a problem, but is not helped by residents who have their own space to park but don't use it and park on free space because they find it a little inconvenient backing out onto the street(High Street).
2 or 3 residents of the High Street are guilty of this, so that on arrival we have to park outside someone elses front door and not our own. In the 20  years we have been coming we have grown to love Wells-it is always changing and developing.  "

108,"More housing for young people(not just teenage mothers) for renting as well as buying."

110,"Free transport to evening meetings and charity events in winter months for pensioners who do not have any means to get to these."

113,"I feel that although tourism is vitally important, there should be a limit to second homes. Too many mean there are not enough homes for locals/permanent people, who can take part all year round in the life of Wells and give something to the town. Also somehow some priority to the local people to be able to rent rather than high charges made for holiday only short term lets.
Don't know how either of these could be arranged."

114,"Permanently pedestrianise Staithe Street. Leaving access for car park and lorry unloading. There is no need for cars to drive through, it itakes but minutes to go round. Wells is choked with people and cars in the summer season. I would like to know at what level of visitors is deemed enough to substain Wells or do we keep squeezing more and more in this little town."

115,"wells has already lost its peace.
Wells is now like the rest of Britain-overcrowded, no peace to be found anywhere throughout the summer months.
Very little one can do to improve the quality of life."

117,"More consistency on the town council and a town council made up of people who genuinely interested in the town as a whole and not their own interests.
Less building as all current housing is over-priced and totaly out of character.
Better public transport."

118,"Wells is a unique place to live, not only has it got very good facilities ie. shops, bank etc. it also maintains a good community spirit. The majority of people young and old who live in Wells would like to stay and see their children or grandchildren stay within the area.
I would most importantly like to see an increase in housing facilities for local people and even a partial buying scheme for residents. We have low wages in this area and it is unfair that the more affluent people outside Norfolk buy houses and then use them as holiday homes.  "

120,"enforcement of parking restrictions"

123,"A pedestrian crossing on Polka/Standard road for people who live in the East Council Estate to cross safely as traffic speeds too fast, this should be a top priority.
A roundabout at top of Polka with the coast road,"

124,"More regular police officers to patrol not only Wells but the surrounding villages. Despite what is printed in the press the PSCO's are not capable of dealing with all issues and their attendance is irratic, for 2 of the PSCO's we could have a real police officer. As per the question 4, a seasonal traffic warden would make a great impact on mobility around Wells town. Parking outside the Crown Hotel  3 or 4 at rear leaves very little room
for other traffic with emergency vehicles unable to drive through a small space."

125,"North Norfolk District Council Must be made to change its mind on the 'sustainable location' idea. The loss of young people to this town because of lack of opportunities must be halted.
The attitude of NNDC and the town council is all important to development, but maximising the facilities that we have in order to welcome visitors ie. toilets and parking is close behind. "

129,"There should be more disabled parking spaces in the town ie. opp. library and Buttlands, as it is difficult to park near shops in summer."

130,"To give Wells a viable future as a thriving community you need to consider better use of the natural resources available-Quay-working and leisure harbour. Attract people with sailing boats by providing first class facilities-pontoons/water/elec.
This would provide sustainable work throughout the year. Build a purpose built hostel with appropriate facilities for ramblers/bird watchers making a centre of excellence ie. Gray's Building demolished."

132,"Housing to be provided by need-rather than speculation(Ref. characterless project on Barkers Garage Site)
Second Homes to pay full council tax(possible surcharge for lenghtly periods of non occupancy).
Encouragement of local shops to source goods locally(far too many gift shops stocking imported goods identical to all other such shops around the country)
Support by community and council for any genuinely local business efforts-i.e. fishermans' project. "

136,"Community centre to be developed.
Improvements to the quay for fishermen.
Permits for residents cars.
Money needs to be put into Wells as it has always been the poor relation of the district."

138,"Treble charge of council tax to 2nd 3rd and for the ones who have 4 homes in Wells that are not lived in, only holiday homes.
Police on the beat throughout the summer months in the evenings.
Ban on anymore gift shops in Staithe street!!
Stop out of work, drug users moving into our council flats."

139,"Wells is an exceptianally social community with many diverse social networks and a good commercial spirit.
If this isn't a sustainable community where is? It needs 'streamlining' for visitors eg. One way on Buttland, seating at quay and good social housing."

140,"We need a petrol station, better/modern toilet facilities and could the old 'Grays' site be re-built or something as it is now an 'eyesore' to visitors."

141,"What we need with regards to bus services is a good connections to -Kings Lynn railway station allowing 20min at station to buy ticket/use loo/get coffee.
Several busses which wait for London train to come before leaving.
Also a Sunday evening service to Lynn to assist people returning to London sunday evening.
Fast bus-Fakenham-costessy park and ride. "

142,"Wells is very unique, generally speaking extremely well organised-just strengthen what you've got."

144,"We do not need no more second holiday homes in Wells-all these second houses have ruined Wells as a community and also to many retired people live here, there are no young working people to fill the seasonal/full time job gaps.
Wells is turning into a part time playground for the rich-it may be too late to do anything about it now.
No wonder NNDC has described Wells as unsustainable!"

145,"More dropped pavements for wheelchair use.
Small supermarket with fresh meat and fish counters
Petrol Station"

146,"Somewhat concerned that it is rumoured that the Health Centre is to be removed from the town centre to the hospital. Its' present position is so convenient for all, especially the elderly.
Would rather see one policeman on the street than three community support officers!"

149,"The town needs a good clean up.
The roads and paths need repairing.
Staithe Street should be pedestrianised.
Stop building holiday houses.
Put a big tax on holiday houses-they can afford it.
One day the sewage system is going to collaps."

...more............
