This is just a test message as I have had reports of the Guestbook not responding correctly - if you can see this message - it's OK.

In response to all those calling for a ban on outsider’s 2nd or holiday houses (Note. Not their owner’s money!) why not call for a ban on locals owning and renting out houses? There’re far more of those and thus more houses for locals to live in would be freed up.

I think you have missed the point, Phil, it is the homes that remain EMPTY for 10 or 11 months of the year that do not benefit the town. It really doesn't matter if it is a 'local' or an 'outsider', a house with no occupants does not spend money in the town which is vital to keep the shops, pubs and other facilities going.

Love the atmosphere in school holidays, christmas tide and the carnival. there are loads of activities and it's really nice to see everyone getting involved.
Something needs to be done about the burnt-out arcade, I work for a construction company and know we would be able to build something there that would fit with the surrounding buildings and interest residents and holiday makers! the council need to do something its been too long now. The Quay looks so nice in photos and on the 'Kingdom' series on ITV, its a shame that Gray's arcade lets it down.

I have lived in this town for just over 30 years and I have never know the town to be more vibrant.
There are so many things to get involved with whatever your interests.
That a small town such as ours can put on so much is quite amazing.
The volunteers who are involved with so many of the organisations deserve our whole hearted thanks and congratulations.
Wells is such a lovely place to live.

How refreshing to read something positive about our community.

There was no notice saying only one sticker per person. That means that a person could all their stickers for just one question.
The way the questions are worded is key to how you want the person to vote. I think the questions were slightly biased.

It's interesting reading the comments from the survey, but I have doubts as to the reliability of the results.
For many of the questions the wording was such that one would be hard pressed not to agree.
For others, the question has been put together clumsily. Look at the first question - the fifth answer, 'all my life', is meaningless as it can be a subset of the first four questions put together. Someone may have lived in wells for 10 to 15 years which may have been all their life - which answer do they tick?
On the whole, a great idea, but not implemented as well as it could be.

I disagree, the inference of "all my life" is that you were born in the town and have lived here to this day whereas "25+ years" could mean you moved to Wells at 40 years old and are now 67 years old.

Well, someone has to be first, if only to test the system responses. I will start with a plea to the Gray family - if you do not intend to develop the Quayside site yourselves, please put the site up for auction, this will ensure you get the best price for yourselves and show the rest of Wells that you care about the town.
