Six monthly review meeting
Kate thanked people for their support and input to the review. Philip Burton and Steve Eldred met to discuss WAP position and whether or not the second half of the money will be released. They discussed how they want to move forward with the community agenda and make better links with the Community development Officers at NNDC. The District Council plan to move their community group out into the community and that Maureen Clark and her team would begin to work closer with the area Partnerships.
NNCP have proposed to reduce WAP budget for 2010/11 by 20%. The under spend for this year is around £9000, Kate has suggested that they let us keep this £9000 and then WAP will be able to deliver what we have proposed next year – this decision was to be made by NNCP Board in the near future. Peter asked if the board could make the decision that if we have not received our second half of funding then we will use the under spend in the bank to meet our budgetary needs until we do receive the second payment– everyone agreed. |
Over spend to be reviewed every two months. |
AGM Invitations will be sent out this week, members need to receive notice about the AGM at least 21 days prior to the date. Some members of the group may be representatives of a group and that the contacts we have may not be the current representatives, the letter will need to mention that the current representatives need to attend with the groups mandate. The constitution states several things that we need to adhere too, copy of accounts and chairs report needs to be available prior to the date. Venue will be the Maltings. After the AGM there will be an informal chat about the Maltings with refreshments, there was some discussion whether or not this is necessarily the correct forum to discuss the update of the Maltings project. Kate has approached Jill Fisher regarding whether the district council would support the informal information giving – she is waiting to hear back regarding this. After further discussion it was decided that we would not discuss the Maltings project after the AGM |

Project update
Kate asked if everyone had read the project updates, the youth projects slowed down during the summer holidays but will pick up again. Kate asked if the board could make a decision regarding the funding from the housing project and if they were still happy about moving the £2300 from the community housing fund to the Walsingham project. Kate has secured another £5500 funding from comic relief so the project can run until March 2011. CATS (Community action through sport) was on hold, Kate has spoken to Becky Taylor at the police, and the police are very keen to run a sailing club in Wells – and would only be Wells – The police have one person now being trained. Target group would be youths who hang around on street corners. Police are looking to run this Friday and Saturday nights piloting it in Easter. PC Simon Blakely is already trained but needs extra qualification to teach children. Also looking for canoes as Becky Taylor can teach canoes. This is in very early discussion stages, Kate stressed that research will be done to make sure that the youth in Wells actually want this. Adrian Underwood is trying to set up some sort of fund for sailing and young people – Kate / Ben to make contact when appropriate.
Walsingham youth project is going well. Police have said they only received 1 telephone call regarding anti social behaviour and 1 telephone call regarding nuisance throughout all the summer holidays. Feedback from general members of the community and parish council are positive. Good opportunity for advertising and publicity for WAP and Walsingham youth project.
Bank also doing well another volunteer came in and joined up this morning. Community chest has had a couple of letters and application forms which have been sent out. There was some discussion regarding the decision panel and who will be able to vote on funding at the next Board meeting. Board members only will take a vote and the community group will be informed via letter. A briefer directory of the applications will be produced before the meeting. |
