Wells Carbon Footprint Survey

As individuals, almost everything we do leads to the release of carbon into the atmosphere whether that's boiling a kettle, turning your heating up in the winter or taking a foreign holiday. There is no better place to start reducing the size of your carbon footprint and your energy bills than in your home or business premises. But before you can start thinking about reducing your bills and energy use you might like to know exactly what your carbon footprint is at the moment.

The WAP Environment Forum has undertaken the big task of finding out what the collective Carbon Footprint of the WAP area is. By finding out the local Carbon Footprint we will be able to attract more funding into the area to help families and businesses start to reduce their energy usage and bills.

So how does this work and how can you help? To calculate the exact Carbon Footprint of the area the Environment Forum has designed a ‘Carbon Footprint Survey’ for you to fill in on behalf of your household or business. By getting as many local households and businesses to fill in the survey, which includes questions about current energy usage and lifestyle, a simple calculation can be done to determine the Carbon Footprint of the whole area.

To fill out the online survey all you need to do is:

  1. Go to www.cutyourcarbon.org.uk
  2. Enter your postcode in the ‘Search for your Community’ box at the top right
  3. Click on ‘GO’
  4. Scroll down to below the map and click on ‘Wells Area Partnership’
  5. To join the community click on ‘Register’ at the bottom right
  6. Fill in the form with your details
  7. Once you have registered, follow the instructions to calculate you carbon footprint.

Or simply follow the link to the Cut Your Carbon website from here and use the above instructions
